Spotify users can now stream real time lyrics from their devices

Spotify users can now stream real-time lyrics from their devices.

The Swedish audio streaming service, announced yesterday that users can swipe up from “Now Playing” view or bar depending on the platform as long as the song is playing.

This comes after years of ignoring consumer demand for in-app lyrics.

Before the feature was offered in a limited selection of countries but now premium and free users can access the feature powered by Musixmatch across all platforms from iOS, Android, desktop computers, gaming consoles and smart TVs.

There is a social element which allows the user to share lyrics to social media.

The feature interrupted the lyrics with facts and other background information after which thousands of users expressed the need for ‘Real time’ lyrics.

To access the feature from the desktop, from the “Now playing “bar, click the microphone icon while a song is playing. You’ll then see lyrics scrolling in real time while the song plays.

Spotify battles for the Kenyan market, with Apple music, Boomplay and Deezer as other competing streaming apps.

The company, was founded in Sweden in 2008, streams across 93 markets spread in all the continents.

Spotify has been in Kenya for nine months.
