The Kenya Kwanza team in Kisii will not conduct primaries in seven constituencies after a consensus.

The team will conduct the exercise in Kitutu Chache North, Bobasi and in 23 wards.

The exercise will take place on Thursday.

“Preparations are at an advanced stage. The exercise will be free and fair,” outgoing Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu said.

“Every step would be above reproach.”

Machogu is vying for the governor's seat.

He spoke on Monday at Ibeno in Nyaribari Chache after a rally.

The team has brought on board Theresa Oyioka to vie for the woman rep seat.

She is the former wife of MP Oroo Oyioka.

Machogu promised to build a strong team that appeals to all clans in the region.

He was accompanied by his running mate Ogamba Migosi, senator aspirant Joash Maangi, Charles Matoke, who stepped down for Machogu and Okengo Nyambane who also prevailed to step down from running for the senator seat.

Nyambane now joins Deputy President William Ruto's presidential campaign team.

Machogu said more needs to be done to address the high cost of living.

“Kenyans are struggling and this is not good for the economy,” he said.

Machogu said despite the fuel crisis, Parliament had passed a stabilisation Bill to enable the country to inject channel more funds to end the shortage.

“I am sure we need a government that is interested in the affairs of the common man which we don't have now,” he said.

Ogamba Migosi lauded the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for stopping further arrests of politicians on flimsy grounds.

“We ask all politicians who had been fearing state intimidation to come forward and walk with us in this journey,” Migosi said.

Matoke who is also the ANC party deputy chairman said, Kenya Kwanza is the only hope for Kenyans struggling at the grassroots.

He urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop forcing Raila on Kenyans saying the country's democracy has matured and Kenyans know the leader to choose.

Maangi said they support DP Ruto's sentiments that the budget should be revised.

“There is a need for something that mirrors the realities our people go through daily,” he said.
