United Democratic Alliance coordinators in Kisii have picked their Woman Rep aspirant, who will fly the party flag in the August 9 polls.

Maureen Obino's endorsement came after she was picked among  two other aspirants -Lucy Gitoi and Gladys Aunga.

Party county coordinator Hezekiah Bosire said that they unanimously picked Obino after her rivals failed attend a consensus meeting held at Nyamache.

"We have endorsed Obino as the party flagbearer. The decision was arrived at after two other aspirants failed to attend a meeting ," Bosire said.

"We would not wait for them because they said they had other engagements elsewhere."

He urged the party's top organ to consider Gitoi and Aunga for other appointments after the elections.

Bosire said that the party has an option of issuing direct ticket, consensus, opinion poll or nominations and urged her rivals to support Obino in unseating the incumbent Janet Ong'era.

The endorsement of Obino, Bosire said has completed UDA's team in the county.

Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu is the governor aspirant Migos Ogamba his running mate and Deputy Governor Joash Maangi will contest for senator seat.

"I am going to inform the county and national leaders on the choice  to start a vigorous campaign for our party aspirants," the coordinator said.

Bosire implored Machogu, Maangi and Ogamba to strengthen the party and win many elective seats in both parliament and county assembly.

He said Bobasi clan has picked Obino for the county MP seat, stressing that she was the pioneer of the party in the area and they will not like the party to impose any aspirant on them.

“We respect Machogu and Deputy President William Ruto and urge them to respect our choice to avoid wrangles which will ruin the party,” he said.

He appealed to the party to give Obino the ticket so that they can start campaigning for her.

Rachael Otundo who defected from UDA to PPK party has since faulted big parties for being unfair to aspirants.
