Deputy President William Ruto has lauded Patrick Ngere for dropping his Mwingi West parliamentary bid under the United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) in favour of another candidate.
Ngere gave up his ambitions to support Alex Wambua Mwangangi for the seat.
In a statement on Monday, Ruto termed the move an act of courage.
"We salute Patrick Ngere for his courage to stay his aspirations and back Alex Wambua Mwangangi for the Mwingi West Parliamentary seat," Ruto said.
The DP has now accommodated Ngere to his presidential campaign team and is banking on his vibrancy and political knowledge wealth in wooing voters.
"With his rich political networks and vibrancy, Ngere will now help in driving our presidential campaigns."
Earlier in the day, Ruto also brokered another deal that saw Kisii county UDA governor seat aspirant Alfred Nyangweso step down for Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu.
Nyangweso has equally been accommodated in the DP's presidential campaign team.
"UDA welcomes Alfred Nyangweso to its Presidential Campaign team. In the interest of the party, Mheshimiwa Nyangweso has delayed his Kisii Gubernatorial bid for our candidate Ezekiel Machogu, who is the Nyaribari Masaba MP," Ruto tweeted.
The DP has been using consensus to broker deals that will see divisions emanating from nominations reduced.
The party has scheduled its primaries for Thursday, April 14.
