A UDA politician in Kisii is pleading for help after she was injured at a Deputy President William Ruto rally.

Gladys Aunga, who is seeking the UDA ticket for Woman Rep, says she was hit on the head with a microphone by a party official during a rally at Masimba town in Masaba South.

She said the official has refused to take responsibility and gone into hiding.

The politician, Aunga said, is campaigning for a senior post in the county.

“I am yet to know why he decided to throw the microphone so hard on my face in front of the DP. What has surprised me the most is that the same politician has not even bothered to check on me or apologise,” she said.

Aunga spoke to journalists from her hospital bed at Charsleeda Medical Centre in Keroka on Tuesday.

Aunga said she was recovering but the hospital bill is rising.

"This is why I am appealing to my party leader to help me, especially in sorting out my bill, before I get a discharge from here,” she told journalists.

A doctor said she was out of danger and may be discharged as soon as she pays her bill.

Aunga was part of a group of politicians who had accompanied Ruto in his tour of four subcounties last week.

Ruto visited Kegogi in Marani, Kitutu Chache North, Nyabururu in Kitutu Chache South, Nyanturago in Nyaribari Chache, and Nyamache and Itibo in Bobasi.

He was accompanied by UDA hopefuls Omingo Magara and lawyer Migosi Ogamba, among others.
