Leaders allied to President William Ruto's administration have asserted the government's commitment to inclusion and cohesion.

The leaders, speaking during a thanksgiving service to celebrate the appointment of former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa as Kenya’s envoy to Egypt, said the appointment was the clearest sign of an all-inclusive administration.

Led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, said Ruto had kept his promise that no community would be left behind due to their political affiliation.

“In his government indeed if you go to Coast, Nyanza, Kisii, Western and even Turkana you will find appointees. We must build a united country without ethnic, or regional boundaries. We want everybody to have a sense of ownership of this country,” Wetang'ula said.

Wetang’ula called on the people of Nyanza to work with the government of the day.

Former Migori Governor Okoth Obado revisited the people's voting pattern in 2022 in Nyanza and compared it to the government appointees the region had reaped.

Obado said it was time to return the favour. “I am happy now the house is growing. Let us come and work together so that we can benefit from this olive branch that the President has extended to us.”

Nyanza region is known to be the bedrock of opposition politics spearheaded by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

The region's leaders present challenged Outa to go out there and seek opportunities that will uplift the livelihoods of the people and address some of the socio-economic challenges they face.

“Go to Egypt and see what they are doing that Kenya is not doing. It is nearly half desert but they produce 10 metric tonnes of rice, 10 metric tonnes of wheat as well as maize," former Rarieda MP Fred Gumbo said.

The leaders were speaking at the Church of Christ in Africa, at Rabuor, Nyando Constituency, Kisumu County on Sunday.

Other present at the event were Information, Communication and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura, Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe, Nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga and former Kasarani MP Elizabeth Ongoro among others.

Outa, who is now waiting to hand over his credentials to the Egyptian head of State, revealed that during induction, all diplomats in Africa had been tasked with promoting Raila’s bid for the African Union Commission Chairperson post.

“The appointing authority (President) has assigned us the duty to campaign for Raila Odinga,” Outa said.

Outa will take charge of three missions in Egypt, Eritrea and Jordan.
