First daughter Charlene Ruto has urged youths to put in more effort and invest in their talent as it will provide more opportunities for them in future.

Speaking at a school in West Pokot, Charlene encouraged the youths to balance their talents with education.

Acknowledging the talents and arts shown by the youths from the local school, Charlene asked the youths to make proper use of their talent as it will be of great significance in their future.

“If you are good at any sports activity, make sure you put in your best effort as it will create a job opportunity for you,” she said.

“They say West Pokot is the land of ‘hidden’, but those hidden treasures are seated right in front of me today. You young people you are the hidden treasures of this county, so make sure that you bring out your talent, your creativity in everything that you do,” Charlene said.

At the same time, Charlene urged young women to protect themselves to avoid being lured by men.

“To my fellow young women, no matter the challenges you face; I know in West Pokot there are challenges of FGM, early marriages ( forced marriages), teenage pregnancies but please, let us protect ourselves as girls,” she said.

“Msikubali wavulana wawadanganye, if anything happens to you hawa wataendelea na masomo ubaki pekee yako.”

(Don’t be fooled by men, if anything happens to you, men will leave you alone and proceed with their education)
