Wiper Democratic Movement has faulted President William Ruto for failing Kenyans and named party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the ideal person to save the country.

Addressing the media after holding a National Executive Council meeting at party headquarters in Nairobi, secretary general Shakila Abdallah also claimed Kenya's foreign policy had also failed.

"Kenya Kwanza is pitting Kenyans against their closest neighbours with endless diplomatic rows. It took a lot of effort to build this relationship," she stated.

She added that the policies of the Kenya Kwanza administration had failed to alleviate Kenyans from poverty.

"Kalonzo's leadership resonates well with Kenyans. He is our renewed hope for a failing great nation," she added.

Kalonzo recently announced that he was ready to run for president in 2027 but insisted that he would not be seeking Azimio leader Raila Odinga's endorsement.

Kalonzo who first ran for president in 2007 on the ODM Kenya ticket is under pressure from his Ukambani backyard to take the second stab.

The region's political leaders have insisted that he must run for the country's job.

The Wiper leader supported Raila in 2013 and 2017 as running mates; in 2022, he was relegated from the second in command by Narc Kenya boss Martha Karua.

On Tuesday, Kalonzo said the party will be stepping up its recruitment drive across the country.

"We will grow in heaps and bounds," he said while assuring Azimio is still intact.

Kalonzo also said he was in constant touch with Azimio leader Raila Odinga and Kanu chairman Gideon Moi.

He added that Wiper will soon unveil its presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

"Nothing stops ODM from saying they are going in that direction. Wiper is clear on how it wants to go. The NEC cannot endorse anything now but it will be done later," he stated.

Last year, President Ruto said he was ready to face Kalonzo in 2027, saying he was aware that he would be his main competitor in the next polls.

The party also insisted that the independence of the Judiciary must be defended at all costs.

This comes in the wake of criticism that targets the Judiciary.

"We will not allow our country to fall into anarchy. "We are with Chief Justice Martha Koome and that's why our party leader was with the Law Society of Kenya during protests against the Ruto administration for attacking the Judiciary," secretary general Shakila Abdallah.

The party leader warned Koome against agreeing to have talks with Ruto.

"There is nothing to negotiate. I will be very disappointed if she falls for that," he said.

He explained that the Judiciary is an independent institution whose roles are clearly defined in the Constitution.

"It will be a culmination of absurdity between the Executive and the Judiciary if the two meet," he said.

Present at the meeting were Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, senators Enoch Wambua (Kitui), Agnes Kavindu (Machakos), Dan Maanzo (Makueni) and Mavoko MP Patrick Makau.
