Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago has broken his silence on his arrest by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

In a tweet on Wednesday, he said he was available for summoning should the DCI come for him.

"There are rumours all over Eldoret that DCI Officers have been looking for me the whole night. As a law-abiding citizen, I am available once summoned," he said.

"I have met with the leadership of parents and agreed on the way forward as per their press statement issued last evening."

The Director of Public Prosecutions on Wednesday ordered the arrest of  Mandago and three others over the Finland and Canada Overseas Education Programme.

The other officials are Joseph Kipkemoi Maritim, Meshak Rono and Joshua Kipkemoi Lelei.

On August 10, the senator was grilled by police over the county’s scholarship row.

Mandago confirmed the grilling but did not disclose what he told the officers about his possible role in the Finland programme.

"I have today recorded my statement at the DCI (Kiambu Road) on the Finland and Canada overseas education programme," he posted.

DCI boss Mohamed Amin confirmed Mandago was grilled for up to four hours.

“Indeed, he was here over the issue you know and the probe is now almost complete,” he said then.
