Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga has refuted claims by Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome that the opposition hired bodies that they claimed were victims of police brutality during anti-government demos.

Raila on Tuesday termed the claims by Koome as very disappointing adding that the victims have death certificates which prove the gunshots.

"I don't know in which world he lives. Because the bodies we will be burying have bullet wounds on them and death certificates confirming the cause of death," Raila said.

Additionally, Raila noted there was a victim whose head was chopped off in Sondu.

He said there was also a victim of an arrow attack.

"These are real deaths of human beings killed by Koome's goons masquerading as police officers," Raila claimed.

Raila alleged that at least 50 people were killed since March when the opposition coalition announced the resumption of weekly mass protests.

Speaking in Nyeri on Tuesday, Koome alleged that Azimio hired bodies during the protest to pain his officers in bad light.

"It is so unfortunate that some senior members of the society go to the mortuary hiring dead bodies, calling the media and telling them that these people were killed by the police. How low can some of our leaders sink?' Koome posed.

It was the first time Koome spoke on the demos since they happened last month.
