Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has unveiled the county's 3rd Generation Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2023-2027).

The comprehensive plan, with a budget of Sh168 billion, is built upon five core pillars: Governance, People, Resources, Competitiveness, and Harmony.

During the launch ceremony on Friday, Wamatangi highlighted the significance of the CIDP for Kiambu County.

He emphasised that the plan aligns with the national development framework, the Kenya Vision 2030, as well as the Medium-Term Plan.

Wamatangi mentioned that the plan draws inspiration from his own manifesto and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda of the Kenya Kwanza Government.

“By integrating these strategic frameworks, the CIDP creates a cohesive roadmap that will guide the county's progress over the next five years, with implementation scheduled to commence in July 2023,” he said.

The governor expressed his administration's firm commitment to revitalising Kiambu County and shared his vision for transformation.

"Our mission is to make Kiambu great again by providing timely, efficient, and effective services that will transform our county socially and economically,'' he said.

"The CIDP 2023-2027 serves as a significant step towards realising this vision, as it incorporates key initiatives and projects aimed at improving the lives of Kiambu residents and driving sustainable growth.''

The launch ceremony was attended by Woman Representative Ann Wamuratha, Ruiru MP Ng’ang’a’s King'ara, and Elijah Njoroge, MP for Gatundu North.

In addition, Members of the County Assembly, led by Speaker Charles Thiong'o and Majority Leader  Geoffrey Mucheke, attended the event.

They underscored the shared commitment of the county's leadership to drive positive change.

However, MPs Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), and Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete), as well as Senator Karungo Thangwa did not attend.

Wamuchomba had also skipped a meeting with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other Kiambu leaders, following a summons issued to halt Wamatangi's impeachment process.

Governor Wamatangi recently announced plans to work collaboratively with all leaders across the county to enhance service delivery, rallied elected officials to support his administration's efforts.

He said that the launch of the CIDP 2023-2027 signifies a crucial milestone in the county's development journey and sets the stage for comprehensive and impactful progress in Kiambu County.
