Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi on Thursday revealed the challenging journey he has faced in his first eight months in office.

He attributed the tough moments to the relentless efforts of cartels determined to destroy his political career.

Wamatangi made these remarks during the launch of the second issuance of bursary forms distribution, valued at Sh100 million, at his office.

The ceremony witnessed the attendance of the general public and various education stakeholders, providing an opportunity for Wamatangi to reiterate his unwavering commitment to education.

He pledged an additional Sh100m in bursaries to be distributed in August this year.

Addressing Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and tasked committee, Wamatangi urged them to allocate funds exclusively to students in need, emphasizing the importance of fair and transparent processes.

He cautioned officials against awarding bursaries to friends and relatives who do not meet the eligibility criteria, highlighting his determination to ensure accountability.

The governor reiterated his promise to eliminate corruption within the county administration and expressed his willingness to collaborate closely with Members of Parliament (MPs) and MCAs to fulfil his mandate.

He openly discussed the existence of cartels that had collaborated with the previous administration, vowing to make his tenure unbearable by frustrating his efforts.

He acknowledged the initial hardships he encountered during the first eight months but expressed satisfaction that the situation had improved significantly.

"The first eight months have been challenging due to individuals who were determined to hinder my progress. However, I am pleased to inform you that things are now running smoothly," Wamatangi stated.

He called upon the Kiambu electorate to rally behind his administration and offers their unwavering support.

Wamatangi had last year December requested prayers from congregants in Gatundu South, Ndarugo, citing threats to his life.

Wamatangi, without specifying names, disclosed the numerous threats he had received, cautioning him to be careful lest he suffers severe consequences

The governor also shared an anecdote about Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua cautioning him against pressuring staff to report to the office early.

"At one point, my deputy boss questioned me about the early reporting time of my staff. I explained the situation, and he understood," Wamatangi revealed.

Recently, Gachagua summoned Wamatangi and the entire Kiambu leadership urging them to work harmoniously and halt any impeachment plans against the governor.

Wamatangi has previously faced accusations of being a lone ranger from several MPs and MCAs.

Among them MPs Alice Ng'ang'a (Thika), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), and Githua Wamacukuru (Kabete)

Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangw'a recently disclosed that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua arranged a reconciliation meeting between the governor and members of the County Assembly, signifying efforts towards unity and cooperation.
