Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson David Oginde has said he aims to rally Kenyans to help him fight the menace of corruption in the country.

Oginde said Kenyans can work together with the EACC to fight the corrupt political class.

The Bishop spoke on Tuesday night during an interview with Citizen TV.

"My first and foremost objective is to rally Kenyans, not to fight this battle alone. I want to rally Kenyans behind the fight against corruption so that we can work towards a transformed nation," Oginde said.

The Bishop said the fight against corruption has been successful in other nations.

He believes that with the support of Kenyans, it is possible to overwhelm the political class and call them out when they go in the wrong direction.

Oginde termed political goodwill in the fight against corruption as the oil that will drive the agenda.

"But even if political goodwill is not there, will we give up our country so that it goes to the dogs? No, we can't," Oginde said.

He said he did not accept his new position at the EACC because he wanted a job and neither did he accept the job because he is partial.

"I am driven by the belief that Kenya can be transformed. I am driven by the belief that if we do the right thing this country can change," he said.

Oginde was sworn in as the new EACC chairman on May 9 this year following the nomination by President William Ruto which was approved in parliament.
