The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is set to launch a report detailing the nature and extent of corruption and unethical conduct in the implementation of healthcare projects in Kenya.

The EACC said the assessment survey was informed by the need to strengthen accountability in Kenya’s health sector.

It further noted that the last three national ethics and corruption surveys undertaken by the commission have ranked the Ministry of Health as the second most corrupt ministry in government.

“In addition, various reports received by EACC have highlighted corruption in the health sector as an issue of great national concern,” EACC said.

The launch of the report is expected to be graced by the Health CS Susan Wafula and EACC chairperson David Oginde.

Also expected to attend include senior national government officials from the Executive, Parliament and Judiciary, civil society, academia, county Secretaries, and county health CECs from the 47 counties.

The release of the report comes barely days after President William Ruto sacked Health PS Josephine Mburu and the whole of the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority board including its chair Daniel Rono.

Ruto on Sunday pledged to take bold action following allegations of an alleged scandal regarding the supply of mosquito nets.

At the same time, Ruto appointed Irungu Nyakera as the chairperson of the KEMSA board.
