Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission chairperson David Oginde has said corruption can only end when the country gets support from the highest level of leadership.

In an interview with Spice FM, the chairperson said when there is no political goodwill mega corruption will thrive.

On Monday Oginde said the commission is trying to figure out the weaknesses that are facing various ministries and they are finding ways for a breakthrough.

"I hope that as a commission we could work together with various sectors and society to reduce corruption and change the people's mindset," Oginde said.

He said the people who are committed and continue to pursue the wave of corruption should be punished.

"We have seen that commitment from President William Ruto not just in words but in action when he did something concerning corruption," he added.

The chairperson said that there is a need for culture change in the country that needs to be worked on.

Oginde said should not be based on the leaders but on the public level to avoid the incidence of corruption.

He also said that there are people who get into corruption without desiring it when their mindset is that they have to somehow pay for government services for them to be assisted.

"As a commission, we want to show positive efforts that are bearing fruits so that Kenyans can see that fighting corruption is possible," he said.

It was his first interview after being sworn in as the EACC chairperson by Chief Justice Martha Koome on May 9,  following his nomination by President William Ruto.
