Gen Zs want media to cover money making stories - report

30 percent of them want more content on how to buy a house

A new report by Infrotrak indicates that Generation Zs and Millennials want the media to mostly cover content on money making. 

The report dubbed Media Consumption in an evolving digital world: Millennials and digital natives' consumption habits and Implications for legacy media in East Africa fully covered the issues the youth need the media to cover. 

"61% would want the media to cover more content on making money and  56% want content on how to become financially independent," the report read. 

Notably, 37% of those that participated desired content on saving money and the needs of their families and friends.

Additionally, 30 per cent of them want more content on how to buy a house, while 25 per cent want to know how to be fulfilled. 

"21 per cent of the Gen Zs and Millennials want content on how to have new experiences, whereas 14 per cent of them want more on education stability," the report read. 

46 per cent of the respondents indicated that their top career aspiration is to get a good job within the country while 45 per cent just want to make money. 

39 per cent want to venture into entrepreneurship and starting own business, whereas 33 per cent want to further their studies. 

26 per cent want to get good jobs abroad.
