Jubilee party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has termed the attempt being made to deny them a venue to hold their National Delegates Conference as an expensive experiment on multiparty democracy.

In a statement on Thursday, Kioni said a threat to democracy is a matter of national importance.

"Kenya Kwanza's interference with Jubilee Party should send shivers and chills down the spines of all well-meaning Kenyans who appreciate the blood, sweat and tears shed by our liberators and the reward of their ultimate sacrifices the rights and freedoms we enjoy today," Kioni said.

Kioni urged Jubilee members to stand up and resist all efforts by the Kenya Kwanza regime to kill Jubilee Party.

He said Article 38 of the Constitution guarantees the right of every Kenyan to participate in the activities of a political party.

"The Kenya Kwanza regime wants to take away this jealousy-protected right. The Jubilee Party NDC scheduled for May 22 remains on course," he said.

Kioni said no amount of intimidation, coercion and frustration will derail their course to safeguard the Party.

He said they are in touch with the party delegates and have secured alternative venues for the NDC.

Kioni said it is unnerving that individuals who were entrusted with the well-being of the Jubilee party are the very same persons being used to actively undermine the party leader and scuttle Party activities.

"The members of the breakaway faction leading the aggression against Jubilee Party have chosen to be on the wrong side of history," Kioni said.

He claimed the Kanini Kega-led faction of the party is trading democracy for their short-term interests.

Kioni said the alleged attempts by the Kenya Kwanza regime to scuttle the NDC have culminated in a last-mile experiment to deny the party delegates access to the Bomas of Kenya, the Kasarani Indoor Auditorium and the ASK Show Ground Hall

"If only they put the same effort into addressing the cost of living. Kenya would be a better place for all of us," Kioni said.
