Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni has disclosed that the party has secured two more venues for Monday's National Delegates Convention (NDC).

Speaking on K24, Kioni said the venues will be communicated to party members later.

He, however, noted that the venues are within Nairobi.

Kioni added that it is the plan of the Kenya Kwanza government to see to it that the party does not hold the NDC.

"We know that this is part of the government's scheme to ensure that we do not hold the NDC but we want to assure the delegates of Jubilee that the NDC will be there on Monday," he said.

"We have actually secured more venues including private venues so that in the event that all government agencies are instructed not to host us, we will still go the NDC but within Nairobi."

Kioni said they had also approached the Agricultural Society of Kenya to host them but they said they'd communicate with them later.

His remarks come after the Bomas of Kenya declined to allow the party to hold its NDC at the auditorium.

In a letter, the Bomas management said the auditorium was under renovation for the next eight weeks, while other venues within Bomas were fully booked.

"Our main Auditorium, whose capacity is 2,000 pax, has been scheduled for renovation works from 16th May 2023 for eight (8) weeks," the statement addressed to acting executive director Polycarp Hinga read.

"In view of the foregoing, we are regrettably unable to host you for your NDC on 22nd May 2023."

The Jubilee party leader Uhuru Kenyatta on April 29 called for a National Delegates Convention.

The call came amidst wrangles within two factions in the party, one led by embattled secretary general Jeremiah Kioni and the other by EALA MP Kanini Kega.

Kega claims to be the acting secretary general. The team he leads is pro-President William Ruto.

The party was set to meet to review, formulate and approve Jubilee party policies.

They will also receive a status report from the National Executive Committee during the convention.
