Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku has said President William Ruto and Azimio leader Raila Odinga sent a strong message to their supporters in their interaction over the weekend.

Speaking during an interview with K24 on Monday, Ruku said it was good to see the two leaders speaking to each other.

"It sends a strong message to supporters that, let's not fight. We can fight in our streets, we can fight in our areas but the two leaders are not fighting," he said.

Ruku said the two leaders demonstrated that they are not fighting but rather sat together and even shared a light moment.

"Why can't we also as the followers do the same? I think it is good for the nation. We need to unify this country " the MP said.

Over the weekend, Ruto and Raila attended the burial ceremony of Field Marshal Mukami Kimathi who was laid to rest in Nyandarua.

When Raila arrived at the ceremony, he shook hands with Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

After the burial, the two headed to Kasarani stadium for the Kipkeino Classic event where they also sat close to each other and were even seen laughing together.

The supporters of the two leaders have been at loggerheads with those behind Raila believing their victory was stolen, as alleged by their leader.
