Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has welcomed Opposition Chief Raila Odinga to what he termed as ' Truthful men club.'

Gachagua said he was glad to hear Raila refer to President William Ruto as his brother.

"Let's stop leaving in denial and be truthful... I welcome Hon Prime Minister to the club of truthful men," he said.

"People must not live in denial. The truth of the matter is that William Ruto is the president and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces. Uchaguzi uliisha, the next election is in 2027," Gachagua added.

Earlier Raila Odinga had referred to President William Ruto as his brother and friend.

The move could signal climb down by Raila who has sustained attacks on the government since the last polls.

Putting political differences aside, Raila appeared to recoginise Ruto's presidency despite his past resistance against the government.

''My brother William Samoei Ruto....'' Raila said as he recognised Ruto during the burial of Mama Mukami in Kinangop, Nyandarua county.

Going further  Gachagua also said that it is the truth that the price of Unga during Uhuru Kenyatta's last tenure increased.

" Tuseme ukweli, bei yab unga kwa serikali ya Uhuru ilikuwa juu lakini hukuenda kufanya maandamano," he said.

This translates to:Let us speak the truth that the price of unga in Uhuru's government was high but you ( Raila) didn't go and hold protests.

The DP further told Raila to also fight for the grabbled land belonging to MauMau to be returned.

"Jinsi unavyopigania (Raila Odinga) wakenya, tungependa kukusikia ukipigania mashamba ya Mau Mau yarudishwe na watu waliochukuwa,"Gachagua addded.
