President William Ruto has accused Azimio leader Raila Odinga of being unfair in his push for issues raised by the Opposition to be addressed.

Ruto said Raila cannot push his demands by going to the streets to protest against the government.

“If you are a leader who means well for Kenyans, how can you be planning activities that destroy lives, properties and cause chaos in the country,” he posed.

Speaking in Narok on Saturday after inspecting government projects, the head of State reiterated that elections are long gone and what remains is for leaders to serve the people.

“It cannot be fair, it cannot be right for any leader, while they are prosecuting selfish agenda on what they want, they in the process destroy property, cause chaos and anarchy. How fair is it?” he asked.

He termed Raila as hypocritical saying the Azimio leader cannot pursue what he wants as he harms Kenyans.

“When you are making those plans, when you are plotting demonstrations, what goes on in your mind?  How do you hope to lead the country, if you are a person who wants to engage in activities that disturb the peace, ruin businesses and development of the country,” he stated.

Raila has already signaled a return to the bi-weekly demonstrations amid plans for a parliamentary-led bi-partisan talks between Azimio la Umoja One Kenya and Kenya Kwanza.

The Opposition chief said on April 13 that the coalition will resume anti-government protests after the holy Month of Ramadhan.

"The people have called on the Azimio leadership to immediately resume Maandamano after the end of Ramadan," Raila said.

Ruto’s side insists that its team of negotiators will strictly engage the opposition team on the matter of the reconstitution of the electoral body and will not be drawn into other concerns raised by the Opposition.

Both sides have unveiled their dialogue teams but the Azimio camp has read mischief in their counterpart's choice of negotiators.

The Azimio team led by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo termed inlusision of Eldas MP Adan Keynan as a slap in their face saying the legislator is a member of the Azimio.

"The issue of party discipline is one of the four cardinal issues on the table and his (Keynan) inclusion is in bad faith, unlawful, and intended to delay the process. We, therefore, request our counterparts to reconsider and replace Keynan," Otiende said on April 13 during a press conference.

Azimio is pushing for talks on four main issues including the respect of multiparty democracy, reconstitution of the IEBC, opening and forensic analysis of IEBC servers and the lowering of the cost of living.
