Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said he will move on together with those who have stayed with him as they continue with their protests against President William Ruto’s administration.

Kalonzo said many leaders have ditched him during Azimio's protest period.

He said God should help them until the country heals saying that it was in a bad state.

“Wale wenye wako tayari kujiunga na mimi kusaidia nchi, mnakaribishwa. Wale wanafanya minus kule kwingine, ni sawa, ni haki yenu pia," he said.

(I welcome those who are ready to join me and help the country. Those doing subtractions on the other side, it's okay, it's your right.)

The Wiper leader spoke at Shalom Community Hospital mortuary, Athi River, where he had joined other leaders alongside residents in mourning the chairman of Mavoko squatters.

Police said Musembi died in a road accident along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway at Green Park Gardens area in Athi River, Machakos on Sunday, 6.00 am.

He was accompanied by Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko among others.

The leaders eulogized Musembi as a good man.

Kalonzo said the deceased was one of his trusted allies who stood by him all through.

“Sasa hivi wakati kama hu ambapo mnajua kesho tuko maandamano, Musembi angekua pale na mimi. Wengi wamenitoroka,” Kalonzo said.

(At a time like this when we will be holding demonstrations, Musembi would have joined me. Most people have abandoned me)

He said they almost died when teargas was hurled into his car by police officers during Monday’s protests in Nairobi.

“The teargas wasn’t lobbed, it was discharged using a firearm. It entered inside the car and windows were closed, we almost perished,” Kalonzo said.

“Losing Musembi at this time is a big blow to all of us. It kind of removes stamina on us, but for those of us who have remained, we just move on.”

He said he was from a meeting when he heard about Musembi’s death, hence cancelling a church function with his Azimio colleagues in Kayole, Nairobi.

Kalonzo said the ‘chairman’s’ death was a big blow to the Kamba community.

He referred to the deceased as a real hero.

Kalonzo said he spoke to Musembi last Monday when people threatened to demonstrate to his home in Nairobi.

“Musembi was there, now you can imagine what I feel. From here, I want to get to the scene of the accident, I want to get satisfied. Now, I won’t go to the church, I have seen the way his injuries are,” he said.

The Wiper leader also criticized the DCI for what he termed as misleading the public by publishing fake photos claiming they were people who participated in Azimio’s Monday demonstrations.

“The country is in a bad state, I’m saying this with a clean heart,” Kalonzo said.

Governor Ndeti said the deceased was a reliable person.

“The family requested for the body to be moved to Lee Funeral home. A postmortem will be conducted to reveal whether it’s a normal accident or otherwise so that they can have peace. We are here to support the family, whatever the family wants us to do, we will support them,” she said.

Sonko lauded the leaders for putting aside their political differences to support the bereaved’s family.

“Musembi was a great man, a friend of everyone. He never coned anybody,” Sonko said.
