Azimio leader Raila Odinga is currently meeting top coalition leaders at Serena Hotel.

According to reports, Raila will thereafter head to the Nairobi CBD where he will join protesters.

"Kalonzo Musyoka is among the leaders meeting at Serena, after that they will join other leaders and Kenyans in protest at the CBD," a source said.

Two other leaders dressed in desert-brown combat uniforms were arrested and taken away by police officers, outside Serena.

In the morning Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and other MPs were repulsed by police as they made their way to the KICC.

Kilifi Senator Steward Madzayo, MPs Opiyo Wandayi(Ugunja), Ken Chonga(Kilifi South) and Amina Myanzi(Malindi) have been allegedly arrested.

Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua through a tweet demanded that the legislator be released immediately.

“Ruto has arrested Opiyo Wandayi, a leading member of Azimio for walking within the precincts of KICC. Now held at Central police station. We demand his immediate release or else…” he tweeted.

Mutua said it will not be possible for the government to block peaceful citizens from converging in Nairobi as per their constitutional rights.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has faulted the move by the police to arrest Madzayo.

“Arresting Coast leaders will not help. Kenyans must be allowed to exercise their democratic right as per Article 37 of the Constitution,” he said.

The police in an attempt to stop them lobbed tear gas but the MPs joined other Azimio supporters and lead their way to KICC.
