Luo Council of Elders chairman Ker Willis Otondi is dead

Luo Council of Elders Chairman Ker Willis Otondi has passed away at the age of 98.

Otondi was receiving treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital where he had been admitted for a while.

While Eulogising him, Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili said he was a visionary and dedicated servant of the community who served the Luo Council of Elders with diligence and sobriety.

Owili said his leadership and great personality endeared him to many.

"Today, the Luo nation mourns its son, one whose leadership stood the test of time," he said.

The deputy governor added that Ker Otondi opened his gates to many and his words of wisdom will forever remain priceless.

"With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to his family and the people of Nyahera. May God Almighty grant them the fortitude to bear the loss."

The Luo Council of elder chair has been ailing for quite some time now.

Recently when the Azimio leader Raila Odinga was in Kisumu, he visited him at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga joined other leaders in eulogising Ker Otondi.

"It is a great loss for the wider Luo nation," he said.

"Kenya has lost a distinguished member of society. Sad for the Luo nation to lose him at this moment. My condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire community. May He Rest In Peace."
