Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni now claims that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and other UDA leaders desired to attend the Limuru III meeting.

On May 17, some leaders from Mt Kenya led by Kioni and Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua organised the Limuru III meeting bringing together political parties from the central region.

Speaking on Sunday, Kioni said that the conference was a people movement which was aimed at discussing the Mt Kenya issues.

"Gachagua was very desirous to come to Limuru III, just like Moses Kuria and all these other people in UDA. They all wanted to come to Limuru III because it was a rare opportunity that we created for the people of the mountain so that we speak out. An opportunity that has not been availed to them since we voted," Kioni said.

Organisers of the Limuru III socio-economic and political meeting had said that Gachagua and former president Uhuru Kenyatta were welcome to attend the conference.

Prior to the conference, Gachagua had called on Kioni and Karua to consult him on the issues related to Mount Kenya.

Gachagua had expressed readiness to discuss issues related to Mt Kenya region with leaders regardless of their political affiliations.

"I have heard about the Limuru 3 meeting. Both Kioni and Karua haven’t reached out to me as the senior-most politician in the Mount Kenya region," Gachagua said.

"Being the regional leader, it falls upon me to convene such meetings. If they indeed have an agenda, my office doors are open, and they should feel free to reach out."

However, days after the conference, Gachagua said that he will not comment on the conference adding that he is a man of few words.

Kuria who had confirmed to attend the meeting canceled the plans a day before the event.

The Jubilee SG exuded confidence in the outcome of the conference saying they are all united.

"After the meeting, we are all reading from the same page. It was a people movement, myself, Narc Kenya Party Martha Karua and others were there to give guidance. The people came on their account," Kioni added.

The Limuru III birthed a new Mt Kenya coalition dubbed Haki Coalition.

The coalition is made up of more than 26 political parties from the Mount Kenya region.

Kioni said that former President Uhuru Kenyatta will be the leader of the community as he has no political ambitions.

He said that the Haki Coalition will bring all the leaders of the Mt Kenya region together irrespective of party affiliations.
