Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has commended the KCPE 2022 candidates, whose results were released on Wednesday.

The governor said he was delighted by the performance of the candidates in general.

However, catching Guyo’s attention was specifically the exemplary performance by the students of Brainstar Academy.

“ I am quite overtaken by the impressive fact that 20 pupils of the school's first KCPE candidates scored between 400 and 418 marks,” he said.

In the 2021 KCPE results, Little Angel, Ikhlas and Dawanur Integrated Academies were among the best-performed schools in Isiolo.

Ikhlas Academy whose top student in 2020 scored less than 400 marks produced this year’s best student in Isiolo, Brenda June Owuor who got 415 marks.

During his campaign, Guyo pledged to improve the education sector from lower to upper learning institutions.

He stated that he will ensure bursary funds will be available for needy students.

On Early Childhood Education, Guyo said he was disappointed over its status.

“There is so much laxity and poor execution of learning that has compromised the quality of learning at this formative stage,” he said.

“My administration will soon begin a process that will give us a holistic look at ECDE, to have it revamped to ensure high-value learning outcomes for our learners."

Early this month, the county government of Isiolo entered into a partnership with Direct-Aid Africa Muslim Agency

Youths from Isiolo are set to benefit from scholarships for technical courses from the partnership.

As a result of the meeting, 50 youths will be getting full scholarships to pursue courses in medicine, engineering and education fields.

Speaking to the Star, Governor Guyo said that cost will be shared 50-50 between his administration and the agency.

Direct-Aid Africa Muslim Agency will pay 50 per cent of the cost, while the county will cater for the remaining 50 per cent to ensure that the selected students complete their respective courses without hitches.
