Sakaja holds staff meeting, issues awards to best employees

Says a motivated, affirmed and equipped staff is key to his administration's success.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has held the second quarter staff meeting at City Hall. 

Sakaja said a motivated, affirmed and equipped staff is key to his administration's success.

"I thanked the staff for their commitment and appraised them of the fulfilled promises made to them so far," he said. 

The first-time governor also said county staff are now fully covered with a comprehensive medical insurance.

"Salary delays and diverted deductions are now a thing of the past. Staff have been receiving their salary latest by the 2nd of each month," he added. 

More than 10 county staff were awarded during the meeting, to motivate them and their colleagues. 

"I also awarded the the staff for going beyond the normal call of duty and performing exemplarily well," he said.

On Sunday, Sakaja cancelled licences for night clubs operating in residential areas following public uproar over noise pollution.

“Last call. No nightclubs in residential areas," read the tweet accompanied by photos of armed security officers at a location in the CBD.

More than 200 revelers were detained by police during the first day of operation on noisy bars operating in residential areas.

Police said they also targeted bars that were operating beyond the stipulated time, following the governor's order.
