President William Ruto has assured Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja of his unwavering support in ensuring nightclubs within residential areas are closed down.

Throwing his weight behind the new order by the governor, Ruto said there was need to make the city work for all the residents.

“Just to assure my young brother of Nairobi, please keep the noise away from our children, you have our support,” Ruto said.

He made the remarks on Monday during the official launch of Twiga Foods distributor centre at Tatu City.

“I know I have discussed with you this before and you have my support in ensuring we reorganise the city and make it work for all the residents," he said.

At the same time Ruto stated that on Friday, he will be appointing the Nairobi River Commission which will spearhead efforts to clean the Nairobi River and return it to its natural state.

"If you look at the rivers in our city it is a sad story and I want to assure the residents of Nairobi that we will restore Nairobi River ," he said.

In a tweet on Sunday night, Sakaja sounded a warning to all club owners joints within the city.

“Last call. No nightclubs in residential areas," read the tweet accompanied by photos of armed security officers at a location that appeared to be the CBD.
