Ruto rewards URP ally with EALA job

Of the 15 shortlisted, only five will make it EALA.

The awaited list of EALA selected nominees came out on Wednesday with President William Ruto's URP ally Fred Muteti making it to the list.

Kenya Kwanza managed to reduce the nominees to 15.

Muteti served as Ruto's campaign coordinator for southeastern region in the August 2022 presidential election.

Prior to this, he was the secretary general of the United Republican Party, which was led by Ruto.

URP formed a coalition with former president Uhuru Kenyatta's TNA to form the Jubilee Alliance in 2016.

While serving as the URP secretary general Muteti doubled as the chairman of Sports Kenya.

Of the 15 shortlisted, only five will make it EALA. Four will come from Azimio adding up to nine members. 

Others who made it to the list of nominees for the EALA position from the Kenya Kwanza team are Hassan Omar, David Sankok, Abdikadir Aden, Zipporah Kering, Nairobi lawyer Okengo Nyambane and Falhada Dekow.

Anne Too, Jonas Kuko, Cyprian Kubai, Lilian Cheptoo, Rebecca Merikeju, Godfrey Maina Karobia, Yasser Ali Sheikh and Salim Mohammed Busidy have also been listed.

The National Assembly will on Thursday, November 17 conduct a voting exercise to choose the EALA members.
