Bungoma County police have confiscated 120 bags of suspected counterfeit fertilizer.
The incident unfolded after a truck transporting the fertilizer to the ward admins' offices situated at the Kanduyi NG-CDF premises in the Kanduyi Constituency was intercepted and impounded.
Bungoma Senator Wakoli Wafula while addressing the media at Bungoma Police Station expressed his concerns over the irregular transportation, repackaging and transfer of alleged fake fertilizer.
Wakoli said the shipping of the alleged fake fertilizer occurred over the weekend.
The Ford Kenya lawmaker called on the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to assess the authenticity of the product with the findings determining whether legal action should be taken against the perpetrators.
Bungoma south OCPD Jeff Wilson Muraya confirmed the incident saying that the DCI have launched investigations on the impounded truck that was seized transporting the alleged fake fertilizer.
Bungoma farmers are eagerly awaiting further updates on this case, hoping for swift justice and protection against substandard goods.
