EACC probes alleged mismanagement of funds in Kajiado county

The commission wants to establish if there was any irregular payment of per diems

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has written to the Kajiado County government seeking documents and information that will help the commission probe allegations of misappropriation of funds.

In a letter addressed to the Kajiado County Secretary, the commission said it was seeking to establish whether there was misuse of funds.

EACC said it is investigating if there was any irregular payment of per diem by the Kajiado County Government during the financial year 2023- 2024.

"To facilitate the investigation, kindly provide us with the following original documents and information in respect to all payments made to the listed persons as per the attached schedule," reads the letter dated  March 12, 2024.

The letter was written by George Ojowi,  EACC Deputy Director of Forensic Investigation.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission wants Kajiado to provide Budget allocations and Procurement Plans for the Financial Years 2023-2024.

Other required documents include all payment vouchers relating to the payments with their attachments, imprest warrants and approved activity memos.

The commission also requested imprest documents and any other relevant documents that would aid in the probe.

"To facilitate the investigation, kindly provide us with the original documents and information in respect to all payments made to the listed persons," reads the letter further.

EACC said its officers W.Jattani and A.Kahiga will be available to receive the documents on March 27 , 2024.
