AFC Leopards head coach Thomas Trucha has lavished praise on his charges following a sweet 1-0 victory over title-chasing Kenya Police in a hotly-contested midweek fixture.

The 12-time Kenyan champions summoned all their arsenals to gun down the hard-battling law enforcers in a well-attended KPL Round 30 fixture at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday.

Victor Omune's 74th-minute effort was all it took for Ingwe to claim their 12th win of the season which propelled them to fourth on the log with 47 points, 16 adrift leaders Gor Mahia.

"It's only getting better on our side. Consecutive wins in the last three league games is something to be proud of and I'm happy for the squad," Trucha remarked.

"Our aspirations to crack a top-three finish are now becoming a reality by the day and I believe everyone at the club has been inspired by the recent turn of events," he added.

As Trucha extolled his revamped squad for a splendid display of character, his opposite number at Kenya Police Salim Babu rued a missed opportunity to close the gap on leader Gor Mahia.

Babu bemoaned the defeat, terming it a huge setback to their frantic aspirations for a maiden top-tier title.

"We are making things difficult for ourselves. This has piled more pressure on us but we are still firmly in contention. No one should write us off just yet," Babu stated.

"We played well and the boys remained faithful to the entire script throughout the match only that we were not fortunate enough to bury our chances," he added.

The outcome leaves Police second on the log with 54 points, nine adrift of K'Ogalo.

In a preceding encounter played earlier at the same venue, Ulinzi Stars fought valiantly to stun hosts  Bidco United 1-0, Yusuf Mutheli's stoppage-time effort drawing the line at full-time.

Elsewhere, Kakamega Homeboyz heightened Nzoia Sugar's relegation woes with a narrow 1-0 win at the Mumias Complex.

Muhoroni Youth wrung out a solitary point against coastal side Bandari in a drab barren draw at Muhoroni Stadium in Kisumu.

Muranga Seal and Kariobangi Sharks played out a goalless draw at the Police Sacco stadium.

Tusker FC floundered their remote hopes of a 12th title after squandering a two-goal lead to settle for a two-all draw against Nairobi City Stars.

Michael Kibwage fired the Brewers into the lead with a brilliant 13th-minute effort before Eric Kapaito doubled the advantage in the 26th minute.

However, two late strikes by Samuel Kapen and Babajer in the 75th and the second minute of added time drew the City Stars level.

In other matches, Sofapaka bounced back from last week's 5-2 thumping by Kariobangi Sharks to beat 10-man Posta Rangers 1-0 while Shabana and Talanta played out a one-all draw at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay.
