Deputy President Rigathu Gachagua on Saturday asked Bomet residents to respect the President's presence and avoid 'home feuds'.

Gachagua said that despite acknowledging a few issues on the ground, the residents should respect President William Ruto and deliberate on home issues after he leaves.

This loosely translates to: I'm asking out of respect, the president is around today and he is the President of Kenya. If there are small issues, you wait until the President leaves and solve them. We have to respect the President's presence.

However, in one of the stops, Bomet Governor Hilary Barchok had a hard time addressing the residents.

The governor had just started highlighting the projects his administration was undertaking when some residents started heckling.

When he stood to address the residents President Ruto told the people of Bomet to wait for 2027 if they are dissatisfied with their leaders.

He told the residents that they have the power in their hands.

Last month, services in Bomet Town had been paralysed after residents staged demonstrations demanding the resignation of Governor  Barchok.

The angry residents lit bonfires along the Bomet Highway rendering the busy stretch which connects Bomet to Kericho and Nakuru counties impassable.

In their protests, the residents accused the governor of mismanagement of county funds, thus demanding his immediate ouster.
