Public Service CS Moses Kuria has disclosed that a few anomalies have been reported on the first day of the National Youth Service (NYS) volunteer recruitment across the country.

He, however, did not disclose what kind of anomalies they were but assured Kenyans that he would address all of them amicably.

Kuria also noted that the five-day exercise started well and he has been closely monitoring it.

The CS insisted that he is keen to deliver on his pledge to ensure fairness in the exercise, as he called on Kenyans to turn up for the recruitment exercise in numbers.

"On the first day of the National Youth Service recruitment exercise that I am monitoring very closely, I'm delighted to report that the exercise kicked off on the right footing in different parts of the country. Few anomalies were reported and I can assure all Kenyans that I will address them amicably.

"As earlier promised, this is one exercise that I'll deliver effectively without any favour, preference or prejudice of whatever nature. Kila mkenya ajitokeze, apate nafasi ya kujenga taifa letu la Kenya...." Kuria said.

The recruitment will take place from Monday to Friday, February 5-9 2024.

NYS is seeking to have at least 15,000 recruits.

Kuria had earlier assured that he will stand up and protect the rights of the children of the poor in the country, by ensuring they get their rightful share of the 15,000 slots.

Kuria reiterated that no amount of intimidation will make him change his mind on ensuring fairness in the recruitment process.

"NYS Recruitment will take place from Monday to Friday, February 5-9 2024. As promised by President William Ruto and myself, there is no side list. Kila mtu aingie uwanja.

"It is time to stand for the children of the poor. No amount of pressure and intimidation will make me backtrack on this. Hata nyinyi mnanijua," the CS said on X.
