Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has told off Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja about her recent calls to have Members of the Nakuru County Assembly impeach Governor Susan Kihika.

In a statement on X, Omanga said such calls are unfortunate and hypocritical.

Omanga insisted that the people of Nakuru need services and that Governor Kihika needs all the support she can get to deliver on her campaign pledges.

She added that the support should not include unnecessary diversions.

"Sen Tabitha Keroche’s call for the impeachment of Susan Kihika is unfortunate and smacks of hypocrisy. It can't be gainsaid that the people of Nakuru are in need of services. The governor should be supported to deliver on her mandate without unnecessary diversions and political witch-hunt," Omanga said.

Her remarks come after Karanja called for Kihika's ouster over the row between the county government and War Memorial Hospital in Nakuru.

In a press briefing on Wednesday, the Nakuru Senator said a raid by the county government, which left tens of patients unattended, was enough reason to impeach the governor.

“The land lease by the hospital is genuine, as some people want to take over this prime land and its time MCAs acted as there are enough grounds for impeachment,” she said.

The county government is said to have taken over the management of the hospital on Saturday, soon after hospital directors were arrested on Friday.

Lawyers representing the Nakuru county Government, however, denied accusations of forcefully taking over the hospital and ejecting patients.

Karanja said she was only doing her oversight duty as the senator.

Flanked by area leaders, the senator retaliated that she has no interest in the governor's position and is only keen on playing her oversight role.

"I will continue to perform my oversight role with zeal and passion without fear or favour because I have the mandate of the great people of Nakuru County," she said.
