Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has opened up about his relationship with President William Ruto.

During a TV interview on Monday, Kuria said that Ruto has an aspect he truly admires.

" His resilience. President William Ruto is a very resilient person," Kuria said on KTN.

The CS highlighted that Ruto is the most unlikely President that Kenya has ever had.

"As in how he (Ruto), is the most unlikely Presdient honestly speaking. Forget the huge talk. How can someone, who was being hunted become the President? Kuria posed.

Going further the Public Service boss revealed that one and off he asked the President what would have become of him If he lost the August 2022 presidential elections.

However, Kuria noted that Ruto told him that he was ready for a win as well as a loss.

"You know what he (Ruto) tells me, he was prepared for both, to be head the government as President and to be the rival as the opposition," he said.

" And given the kind of enemies we had ahead of us, it only takes resilience to overcome such," Kuria added.

Ruto before the August 2022 elections served as former President Uhuru Kenyatta's deputy for 10 years.

However, with the fallout between the two, Uhuru endorsed Opposition Leader Raila Odinga as his preferred successor.

Ruto was the Presidential candidate for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) while Raila carried the Azimio La Umoja Coalition flag.

When Kenyans went to the ballot on August 9, 2023, six days later on August 15, former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto as the presidential contest winner after defeating Raila and two other candidates in the August 9 polls.

Ruto garnered 7.1 million votes against Raila's 6.9 million votes.

However, Raila rejected the results terming them "null and void" and promised a bruising battle at the Supreme Court.

The apex court, however, threw out the consolidated petition for lack of sufficient evidence even as the judges indicted Chebukati for having fallen short in some areas in administering the election.

On September 13, 2023 President Ruto was sworn in as Kenya's fifth President.
