Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has responded to Makau Mutua after he accused her of retreating to her ethnic cocoon, following the formation of the Kamwene Leadership Forum.

In her response, Karua insisted that she remains a proud member of Kamwene, her party and the Azimio coalition without contradiction.

"I am an unflinching member of Kamwene Narc Kenya and Azimio Kenya all without contradiction," she said.

In another tweet, Karua wondered Mutua who served as the Azimio coalition's spokesperson was working for.

"Makau Mutua, wondering for whom you are playing this season."

The former Justice Minister responded after Mutua accused her and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang'ula of playing tribal politics.

Mutua noted that Karua and Wetang'ula were rallying Kenyans into regions hence promoting 'ethnocentrism'.

"Sad to see senior folks like Wetang'ula of Kenya Kwanza and Martha Karua of Narc Kenya retreat to their ethnic cocoons. Karua is now in Kamwene, a Kikuyu outfit and Wetangula is calling for Luhya ethnocentrism," he said.

"Have they abandoned the Kenya Nation as a realistic idea?" Makau posed.

The Kamwene outfit had raised concerns about a split within Azimio and that Mt Kenya leaders within the outfit had decided to form a new political outfit.

On Friday, however, embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni explained that the outfit was a platform for all leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

He noted that the outfit has been there for a while, and they have been meeting to discuss issues that affect their region before bringing them forward.

"We are in Azimio. Azimio is very intact and I'm sure it is more intact than many would want to believe or would be happy to hear," Kioni said.

He explained that Kamwene means "talking about your own issues; sisi kwanza tuongee yetu kabla kupeleka korokoro zetu kwa wengine (We talk about our issues first before we take them to other people)."

While calling for the Luyha region to come together, Wetang’ula stated that the region's unity was not an option, saying it must count.
