- Mutua said Kioni should resign as he has no faith in the outcome of the talks.
Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has clashed with Azimio Spokesperson Makau Mutua on whether embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni should be part of the bi-partisan talks.
Karua reacted after Mutua urged Kioni to resign as head of the Azimio technical team in the ongoing bipartisan talks on grounds that Kioni has no faith in the outcome of the talks.
"My friend Makau Mutua I presume this to be your personal opinion. Kioni or indeed any of us cannot be gagged. The best proof that talks will go anywhere is results," Karua said.
Karua noted that it has been almost 60 days since the talks began and the cost of living has been skyrocketing.
She said the outcome of the bi-partisan talks will be known with time.
Mutua on Saturday said Kioni has no faith in the dialogue whose aim is to resolve electoral issues that emerged after the 2022 presidential elections.
"My good friend Hon Kioni should with immediate effect resign as head of the Azimio technical team at the Bomas talks," he said.
"He’s repeatedly said the talks are a 'waste of time'. He must resign unless he’s a hypocrite. How can one lead a team in talks he doesn’t believe in?"
Kioni is part of the talks committee that is ongoing at the Bomas of Kenya to address issues between Kenya Kwanza and the Azimio coalition.
