Azimio co-principal Martha Karua has come out to defend leaders after Bunge la Wananchi President Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho uttered some degrading words.

Gaucho who was given a chance to address Jubilee National Delegates Conference on Monday, used demeaning remarks against Sabina Chege and other leaders.

Karua told off Gaucho over his remarks saying he should not criticise leaders based on their physical appearance.

"Please stop issuing any criticism or insults that are gender-based because you will insult even those who are here without knowing," she said.

"We are people who follow the law, there is a young man who demeaned a leader and I will correct him. Even if someone has wronged us, either a father or a mother we should not criticise them based on their physical appearance but rather on their work."

Karua further urged leaders to be keen and respectful when addressing each other.

Gaucho's remarks could not be published because of their derogatory nature.

Earlier, Uhuru had promised to buy Gaucho lunch after he and other youths made an appearance at Jubilee headquarters in April.

Uhuru came under sharp criticism for associating himself with the youths.

"Even you Gaucho next time we meet, I will buy you lunch, don't worry. You came to defend the party's property," Uhuru said.
