AFC Leopards head coach Thomas Trucha believes the traditional Kenyan Premier League behemoths can crack a top-three finish this season.

The Czech gaffer spoke after his charges pulled off a sublime performance to thump FC Talanta 3-0 at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

The outcome propelled them to sixth on the log with 46 points, 19 adrift of leaders Gor Mahia.  "I'm happy with the consistency we've shown in our recent matches. We have registered two straight league wins and another one in the FKF Cup quarterfinals, something that says a lot about the fine form we are currently enjoying," Trucha stated.

"I believe we can cement a position in the top three if we maximise our remaining five matches. We only need to sustain the momentum and try as much as we can to grab maximum points from our remaining fixtures," Trucha added.

Trucha, however, emphasised Ingwe's desire to grace the international stage, saying they would focus most of their energy on clinching the FKF Cup.

"The KPL title is not within bounds for us but we still have a strong desire to represent the nation in the continental championship. The only path we are left with is through the FKF Cup," Trucha remarked.

Evans Lwangu opened the floodgates with a splendid solo effort in the 57th minute of the game.

Rwanda import Arthur Gitego struck to double the advantage in the 63rd minute before Kevin Kimani hit the final nail into Talanta's casket with a scintillating finish in the 76th minute.

In an earlier match at the same venue, Tusker FC rallied back from behind to edge Murang'a Seal 2-1 and reignite their remote hopes of a 12th title.

David Odoyo and Charles Momanyi found the back of the net to fire the Brewers into the lead in the 22nd and 40th minutes respectively to secure maximum points for the Ruaraka-based Brewers. Boniface Kweyu had put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute.

The outcome fired them to third on the log with 52 points. Kenya Police boosted their aspirations for a maiden silverware with a narrow 2-1 win over Nairobi City Stars at the Police Sacco Stadium in Nairobi.

Tito Okello was the toast for the lawmakers, scoring a brace in the 5th and 29th minutes to close in on Gor Mahia striker Benson Omalla in the race for the Golden Boot.

Samuel Kapen reduced the deficit for the City Stars in the 38th minute. The win has the Police in the second position on the log with 54 points.
