Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has exuded confidence that the United Democratic Party's influence will surpass the former ruling party Jubilee in terms of influence.

Speaking on Thursday during a meeting with county coordinators at the UDA headquarters in Nairobi, Gachagua said the party will be so popular such it will share popularity with ODM in its backyard in Nyanza on a 50-50 basis.

"Nyanza itself, hii ODM tutagawa nusu 50-50 na tusukume ikuwe 50 plus one (this ODM we shall share 50-50 and push it to 50+1)," he said.

The UDA party leadership was meeting the county coordinators from across the 47 counties as the party embarked on an aggressive drive to popularise the political outfit.

Gachagua said already, UDA has taken over regions where Jubilee and ODM were the most popular parties and the tide continues to shift in their favour.

He said for instance, Jubilee had 28 MPs in Parliament and 26 of them are now in UDA while the party's National Executive Council which had about 29 people has lost 24 of them to UDA.

"In Luo Nyanza kwa ODM tuko na wabunge karibu tisa (we have about nine MPs in Nyanza. And I can tell you because I was in Coast yesterday, Coast now is yellow," the DP added.

Yellow is the definitive colour that UDA identifies itself with.

Gachagua called on the coordinators to marshal all resources and enlist as many members as possible as the popularisation campaign gets underway.

He said no one, including those in the rival Azimio la Umoja Coalition, should be locked out.

"Tufungulie watu yote mlango (open the door for all). Let everybody come in," he said.

"Ukambani is good...Narok is good, Kajiado is good, and Kisii is the best. We have literally taken over the country politically na mambo bado (and there's still more to come)," Gachagua affirmed.

He added that UDA will rule the country for the next 100 years.

"We are going to build a massive machine called UDA that will rule this country for 100 years so let no one lie to you about it," he said adding that they want the party to have a national face.
