Deputy President Rigathi Gachugua has said they are ready to welcome Azimio members into the UDA party.

Speaking on Thursday while addressing UDA coordinators,  Gachagua said they have opened their doors wide for all to join the party.

''We have no problem accepting people from ODM, Wiper and all the other parties. President William Ruto and I have open doors for the Azimio members,"  Gachagua said.

He said that most of the Azimio members joined the party not because they were willing but because of threats.

The DP also said that some of the members used to meet them during the night but now they are coming during the day.

"We used to meet with them during the night but now they are doing that in broad daylight," he said.

Gachagua at the same time dismissed claims that they are out to destroy other parties.

He said as a party, they welcome all leaders to join their outfits regardless of where they come from.

In his address, Gachagua defended the move to begin an early popularisation campaign.

He said:

"Had President William Ruto not started his campaigns early, he would not be the president today."

"We are going to build a massive machine called UDA that will rule this country for 100 years so let no one lie to you about it."

He dismissed accusations from the Opposition that it was out to destroy smaller parties by poaching leaders noting those joining are doing so willfully and that no one had been compromised.

The deputy president at the same asked the party coordinators to ensure the planned grassroots elections are democratic.

"We want to have the elected party officials right from the ward to the national level and these officials will be part of the government reception team when the president comes to your county," said the DP.
