Eleven more bodies were on Tuesday exhumed from shallow graves in Shakahola Forest in the ongoing operation that seeks to unravel the mystery behind mass deaths that befell followers of controversial preacher Paul Mackenzie.

Coast regional commissioner Rhoda Onyancha said one body was collected from the forest land linked to the pastor.

In her daily briefing at the Shakahola command centre, Onyancha said the recovery raises the death toll to 145.

She said 579 people believed to be followers of the controversial preacher have been reported missing .

The regional commissioner said 14 followers of Mackenzie have been reunited with their families.

The exhumation and rescue operation will continue on Thursday.
