Nandi Senator Samson Cherargey has asked Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli to unblock him on Twitter now that he is a darling of the Ruto administration.

The senator says the block is unwarranted now that the political differences which led to the decision are behind them.

"Omwami @AtwoliDza blocked me on twitter sometimes last year during heated Presidential campaigns. Can you unblock me (now) that tuko himaya ya H.E Dr William Ruto," Cherargey said.

Atwoli was a die-hard supporter of Azimio leader Raila Odinga and campaigned fircely against Ruto prior to the August 9 polls and was widely quoted saying Ruto would never be President.

"Mimi niliambia nyinyi mapema mwaka wa elfu mbili na kumi na nne, nikawaambia William Samoei Ruto hatakuwa president wa republic ya Kenya, mpaka sasa ninashikilia huo msiamo,"Atwoli said during an Azimio campaign rally in Kakamega on July 9, 2022.

(I told you as early as 2014 that William Samoei Ruto will never be the president of the republic of Kenya, and until now I still hold that stand)

Ruto, however, beat Raila at the polls with 7.1 million votes against Raila's 6.9 million.

Following the outcome, Atwoli met Ruto at State House on December 1, 2022 a few days after giving signals of working with the Kenya Kwanza government.

His most recent encounter with the President was on May 1 during Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru at Uhuru Gardens

The trade unionist asked Ruto to get Raila a job in recognition of his status as a national leader.

"We should find him a job even if it is similar to the one he held as the Head of Infrastructure for the African Union."

Atwoli said this will also help end the political tensions existing between the two leaders who have since resorted to fix their differences via bipartisan talks.

In March, Raila declared the start of mass demonstrations ostensibly to kick Ruto out of office, terming his leadership illegitimate.

The Azimio leader holds that an IEBC whistleblower leaked data which showed he won the presidential race with 8.1 million votes against Ruto's 5.9 million.

During Labour Day, Atwoli said Raila's quest to evict Ruto out of State House using demonstrations is an impossibility.

“There are things that are irreversible and when they happen, you accept it. We had power. We had the money and all resources but Ruto managed to outsmart us,” he said.

In recent months, some parties that supported Raila shifted allegiance to Ruto and moved with a number of rebel MPs from the Azimio camp.

Raila has cited this an attack on democracy saying it's one of the reasons he called for mass action to compel Ruto to respect democracy in political parties.
