State sets up special inter-agency facility in Sudan

Says it will facilitate easier evacuation of civilians trapped in the country.

The government has set up a special inter-agency facility and emergency committee in Sudan

In a statement, it noted that it will facilitate the easier evacuation of civilians trapped in the country.

“The main role of this committee is to bring together various stakeholders to manage the evacuation of international staff in Sudan in a coordinated manner,” reads the statement.

It added that the special inter-agency facility and the emergency committee will be coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.

“The contact person on this shall be Samuel Gitonga. He may be contacted on +254722704409 and email: [email protected],” reads the statement.

“In this regard, a command centre located at the 316 Upper Hill Chambers, 15th floor has been set up for the smooth coordination of this exercise.”

On Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs evacuated 63 more Kenyans who were trapped in the country.

The evacuees from Sudan were flown into the country through Gondar, Ethiopia.

This was the third group to be evacuated since the beginning of the process.

The government also evacuated 342 civilians on Wednesday.
