Atleast 500,000 residents in Mavoko, Machakos, are set to benefit from a water project.
President William Ruto is on Friday afternoon expected to commission the Mavoko Water Supply Project.
According to State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, the Sh2.7 billion Project is aimed to ease scarcity.
"It will inject an additional 12,000m3 of daily water supply, up from the current 3000m3 to 15000m3 with 20,000 new connections to households," he said.
Apart from water availability, the project will be a source of employment.
"As an enabler, over 300 direct jobs have been created and 40 per cent of the works were contracted to local MSMEs," Mohamed said.
The project is in line with the commitment to the provision of universal clean and safe water.
The water project by Belgium and Kenyan governments is expected to supplement the current rationed water supply with 12,000 cubic metres per day supply.
The idea behind the project was to protect residents from unscrupulous vendors who used to mint millions.
