Heavy downpour was not a hindrance as President William Ruto as he arrived in Machakos.

Mavoko area in Machakos on Friday morning had been experiencing heavy rains unlike Nairobi where some areas like Westlands and CBD had light showers.

The Presidential motorcade was visibly seen driving through Mavoko town as rain poured.

Through the Meteorological Department website, forecast for a five-day period, the department said rainfall will continue is likely to continue over several parts of the country.

In March, the Meteorological services director David Gikungu said weather drivers show most parts of Kenya will receive depressed rains in the March-May season.

President Ruto is in Mavoko to commission the Sh2.7 billion Mavoko Water Supply Project.

The project is in line with the commitment to the provision of universal clean and safe water.

The water project by Belgium and Kenyan governments is expected to supplement the current rationed water supply with 12,000 cubic metres per day supply.

The idea behind the project was to protect residents from unscrupulous vendors who used to mint millions.
