Newly appointed Solicitor General Shadrack Mose has pledged to serve Kenyans to his best.

Speaking on Wednesday, he expressed his gratitude to President William Ruto for his appointment.

"This is a great honour and I promise to serve the people of Kenya with dedication, respect and fidelity to the Constitution asante," Mose said.

Following vetting and approval for appointment by the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs (JLAC) on February 23, Mose was on Wednesday gazetted as the Solicitor General by President William Ruto.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section (9) of the Office of the Attorney General Act 2012, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces appoint Shadrack John Mose to be the Solicitor General of the Republic of Kenya," Ruto said.

The President nominated the former Kitutu Masaba MP for the post on February 13, to replace Kennedy Ogeto, who was appointed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta in March 2018.

Mose held the Kitutu Masaba parliamentary seat between 2017 and 2022.

He lost the bid to defend the seat on a UDA ticket in the August 9 general election.

A total of 18 applications had been submitted to the Public Service Commission by the close of the application deadline on November 14, 2022.

The PSC shortlisted eight candidates and interviews were conducted on December 13 and 14, 2022.

Mose boasts of more than 29 years of legal practice ranging from tax, insurance, constitutional, employment and banking law.
