Blogger Dennis Itumbi now wants the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to initiate the process of prosecuting former interior CS Fred Matiang'i over the Ruaraka land saga.

Through his lawyer Waithera Kinuthia, Itumbi said that within the next seven days, the agencies should commence the investigations.

"Itumbi has placed us with his letter dated October 5, 2020, addressed to your office requesting you to prosecute Dr Fred Matiang'i for the loss of Sh1.5 billion taxpayers' money, with respect to the alleged compulsory acquisition of land for the benefit of two public schools, namely, Ruaraka High School and Drive-In Primary School," Itumbi said.

He said that the failure of Haji to act on prosecuting the former CS will resume his own private investigations that he had started.

Itumbi said that this is not the first time to ask for investigations on Matiang'i.

He added that EACC has been acting slowly on the matter saying it has taken them three years.

Matiang'i is alleged to have issued a directive for the acquisition of the land despite advice by state organs against it.

At that time, Matiang'i was the minister in charge of education.

The former CS has been recently in the limelight after he was summoned to appear before the DCI on Tuesday over allegations of his home raid.

Police said they found Matiang'i answerable to two charges relating to the alleged raid.

The first charge is a conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to Section 317 of the Penal Code and publication of false information contrary to Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
