Section of Thika road closed after accident at Chania River Bridge

The Kenya National Highways Authority on Thursday closed a section of Thika Road after an accident at Chania River Bridge near Bluepost Hotel.

The accident affected motorists plying Nairobi-Thika-Kenol Highway.

In a statement, Kenha warned motorists of a heavy traffic snarl-up.

"Kenha would like to issue an alert to motorists plying the Nairobi - Thika-Kenol Highway of an accident at the Chania River Bridge near Bluepost Hotel, affecting the Kenol-bound traffic, leaving the road blocked," the statement read.

Kenha said the recovery process is ongoing by the police with assistance from the Performance Based Contractor.

Kenha cautioned motorists to exercise patience and caution.

"Motorists are requested to obey instructions by the traffic marshals as Police intensify efforts to salvage the situation to restore normal traffic flow," Kenha said.

Kenha, however, did not say if there were casualties.
